Originally the Horse Ranch was established in the 1800's. Cochise Stronghold is in the Dragoon Mountains and is where the famous Apache chief Cochise is buried. The adjacent Dragoons as well as the Rincons range to an elevation of over 7000 feet. Nearby towns and cities are Benson, Bisbee, Tombstone, Willcox and Sierra Vista all in Cochise County. Tucson is about an hour drive from the ranch and has a population of over a million.
